  • Description

Imagine a garden that only blossoms at night, a garden where anything that flowers tells a tale of the Moon in different regions of the world, a garden in which you can sit and whisper your secrets to the Moon. The Moon Garden is a concept which expresses both a way of being in nature and a way of relating to the Moon. In its 2019 iteration the Moon Garden will be brought to life in two locations: General Gordon Square and Charlton House. Both iterations of the garden are free to visit and enjoy and are best experienced at dusk on a warm late summer night. In a moon garden grow plants, trees and flowers that different cultures around the world have associated with the Moon from herbs to alleviate menstrual pains, to flowers that only blossom at night, to edibles with a moon themed traditional story associated. The garden is brought to life by Laxmi Rai, Francesca Scotti, Paola Filotico, the Gurkha Veteran Greenwich Group, the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust. Free guided tours of Charlton House’s Moon Garden will take place on Monday 22nd July 4pm – 7pm. The gardens are free to visit but tours registrations are necessary.
